When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text). If you sign up as a provider, we collect additional information you choose to share, such as a business name, service category, service description, service area, and location. If you book or complete a Service, we collect booking details such as dates, messages exchanged through the platform, and reviews. Location data (such as an approximate address or a latitude/longitude) is used to show your general area on the map and to match you with nearby providers or customers.
Payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Workfinder does not collect or store your full card number, card verification code, or bank account number — that information is sent directly to Stripe and handled under Stripe's own privacy policy and security practices.
We use your information to operate the platform: creating and securing your account, displaying your listing or profile to other users, facilitating bookings and messages between customers and providers, processing payments, sending account-related emails (such as email verification and password reset), and improving the platform.
We share information with the following categories of third parties, only as needed to operate the platform:
Other users. A provider's public listing information (business name, category, description, approximate location, reviews) is visible to customers browsing the platform. A customer's name and messages are visible to a provider they book or message.
Service providers we use to run Workfinder. Supabase (database hosting), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email delivery, such as verification and password-reset emails), and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (address-to-map location lookup). Each of these providers only receives the information necessary to perform its function and is bound by its own privacy and security practices.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Workfinder uses cookies or similar local storage to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect your ability to stay signed in.
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain records (for example, transaction records) for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
You can review and update most of your account information from your account page at any time. You can request a copy of your data, request deletion of your account, or ask us questions about this policy by contacting us at the address below.
Workfinder is not directed to, and does not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 18. Workfinder is not a party to and does not screen, supervise, or background-check any provider offering childcare or other in-home Services; parents and guardians are solely responsible for vetting any provider before booking a Service involving a child.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — such as password hashing and encrypted connections — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The platform may contain links to third-party sites (such as a mapping provider or payment page). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
